This gave me a chance to truely test the limits of my 3 Suction Cup style external/internal camera mount. Race against a friend of a friends lightly modded S2k.

Thanks man.
S2k is a good straightline car considering it was built mainly for turns. I find it quite amazing how well an S2k can hang with the 350Z in a straightline.
Didn’t hang for too long though…lol. Car weighs less than the Z does and has about the same whp. Just not the same torque.
true but nonetheless it’s still a pretty well balanced car for what it is. I mean it’s still pretty good in a straight line, but throw that thing around the turns and it’s a whole new car.
Its the same as the Z through the corners. I think the Z is more impressive in that retrospect because it weighs more than the S2k yet runs the same times through the corners and is faster on the straights. But I would love to have a 370z though. It would destroy both corner or straight line. Then I would have to go bring out the tC on it….lol.
Now that’s funny. But get an 2.2L S2k which is faster in a straight line and I think they balanced the weight better than the 2.0 S2k. They get the same power but they lowered the redline to 8k instead of 9k and they get the same power, that way the engine doesn’t have to work as hard to get the same amount of power.
2.2L is faster than what in a straight line? Not a 370z and not a 2007+ 350z. Or where you saying faster than the 2.0L S2k?
faster than the 2.0L S2k. But nonetheless for the power that car gets out of that little of an engine it’s pretty impressive what it can do in a straight line considering also that it doesn’t have alot of torque.
the gate isnt blocked or jammed or anything your just trying to drive it too hard, done the same in my mustang
I power shift. Does not happen in any other gear. The tranny in the older (VQ35DE) Z is known to be the worst one of them all. That’s why there are like 6 different versions of the 350z’s tranny cause they kept changing it till they got it right.
what year is yours? I certainly wouldnt want to break my tranny though one thing always turns into another
It’s a 2003. I have the tools and ability to take it out should it break. I need to replace the clutch though that’s for sure. Slipping on me these days.
350zs have a lot more wheel horsepower.. i had a 2003 track 350z i owned for 2 years that you can see in my video with intake header and exhaust i put down around 250.. similiar mods on 4 of my friends other s2000s will only yeiled slightly above 200 wheel horsepower.. 200-210.. Don’t know what stock s2ks dyno at but 250z dyno at 220-230 or so depending ont he type of dyno.. both cars are fun.. im looking at getting an s2k or 350z again since i sold my z this past summer cause i am an idiot
True that. I’m about to sell my Z too though. I’ll pick another one up in the future.
@rhythmnsmoke and in which year and version they got it right? only asking cause im planning on getting one.
@javycelica06 I forget the actual model number for the transmission, but I think it came in the 2006 and up. So, if you get an 06 you should be fine.
the s2000 isnt made to be fast in a straight line…..not that it isnt, but still…you deff should have started out in a lower gear….each run i was reading the tittles going “no way”….cuz if you let the s2k start in vtec range or near it that is where the lil tq will actually matter for my car. always fun to have fun and glad it all turned out ok that night. congrats on the camera
@whitebrad25 Yeah torque was probably what I had to help me through this one. I’m not the best driver, but I think I’m pretty decent, so I made sure I hit my shift points. My Z is gone now though, sold it not to long ago. I have my tC as my only toy now. Bout to hit the track this weekend down in GA (Roebling Road road course).
@rhythmnsmoke dang…from RWD to fwd on a scion….o well
@whitebrad25 As long as it’s fast, don’t matter what wheels drive it. My tC is 3 times faster than the Z. Click my name and check out my other vids. There are like 50 some odd vids. Go to the early ones (on like pg 3 or something), should see one titled “Our tC vs our 350z”.
@whitebrad25 Technically didn’t go “from” rwd to fwd on a Scion, cause I had both of them at the same time. The tC has more into it, so had to let the Z go when it came down to one of them leaving. I’m getting another rwd though….as soon as Toyota stops dicking around and brings out the FT-86, or a rwd Scion, or I buy another tC and convert it to RWD. Whichever comes first.
@rhythmnsmoke all im saying is you went from the Z, RWD, to the tc, FWD. the Z is sold, so you did go from one to other. idk you haha, so im not saying it was immediate….ill check out the tc videos…i have an s2000
@whitebrad25 Yeah, I bought the Z after I had the tC. I bought the Z specifically for drifting. I was getting into drifting more, so I wanted it. Bank kinda dicked me over though. So, I kept it for about 3 yrs and then recently sold it. I replaced it with an Infinity FX35 so I can haul my family in. My tC though….that’s my blood sweat and tears right there. It aint going anywhere. If I had enough time to put more into the Z, I would have loved it the same, but just didn’t have time
@rhythmnsmoke ya i gotcha…different strokes ya know.
what all is done to the tc? the 45 to 120 video was pretty freakin quick
@whitebrad25 The only thing left untouched is the motor, that’s still stock. Got everything necessary for the track, LSD, coilovers, motor mounts, aero gear, weight reduction, camber alignment, etc… Only recently have I converted to Track. Most of my vids are street races. Started out with a 16G turbo setup (all my street vids are with a 16G, the 45-120 vid is with a 20G). Sold the setup, and presently putting funds together for my new PTuning setup. Will be running a GT3076r turbo.
